Open Positions:

We are currently looking for Board Members who can support in the following areas:

- Treasurer

- Development

- Operational support/guidance

- Legal

The Board supports the work of The Faith Space and provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance. Through a supportive partnership, Board Members lend support to The Faith Space’s full time staff.

Board terms/participation

The Faith Space’s Board Members will commit to attending our monthly Board Meetings, as well as several events that we host throughout the year.

Specific Board Member responsibilities include:

Leadership, governance and oversight

  • Serving as a trusted advisor to the CEO as she develops programs and partnerships.

  • Reviewing outcomes and metrics created by TFS for evaluating its impact, and regularly measuring its performance and effectiveness using those metrics; reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings.

  • Approving TFS annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities.

  • Assisting the CEO and board chair in identifying and recruiting other Board Members.

  • Partnering with the CEO and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out.

  • Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments.

  • Representing TFS to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization.

  • Ensuring TFS’ commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities that we serve.


As The Faith Space’s audience grows, Board Members will help the organization reach its fundraising goals.


At The Faith Space, we highlight holistic leaders who are passionate about systemic change. We are looking for moral leaders with experience in law, business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector. Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • A knack of cultivating and growing relationships

  • Background in finances and bookkeeping

  • Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals

  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the planet.

Service on the Faith Space’s Board of Directors is without remuneration.

Duties of the Treasurer (for which we are especially seeking):

  • Financial management and/or oversight. The Treasurer oversees the management of TFS funds, including but not limited to: reconciling bank statements and managing cash flow.

  • Budgets. The Treasurer is responsible for preparing, or facilitating the preparation of an annual budget, as well as regularly monitoring and comparing the actual revenues and expenses incurred against such budget. While the yearly budget is voted on and approved by the Board, the Treasurer’s role is important in the preparation and management of said budget.

  • Reports. The Treasurer should have thorough knowledge and understanding of the organization’s financial reports and important financial ratios. The Treasurer should keep the board apprised of key financial events, trends, and concerns, and her assessments of the organization’s fiscal health. The Treasurer is also generally responsible for completing, or ensuring the completion of, required financial reporting forms (including the IRS Form 990) in a timely manner and making these forms available for the board’s review.

  • Financial Liaison. Our ideal Treasurer will be able to translate financial concepts and information for the Board. This includes providing a financial report at each Board Meeting, providing an annual report of the financial conditions of the organization, and submitting the books annually for financial review.

  • Perform such other duties as may be provided for by these bylaws, prescribed by the parliamentary authority, or directed by the president, or the board of directors.
